If you are like me, an intuitive, sensitive, creative person who thinks with her heart, you probably know what I’m gonna talk about. Overwhelm. Especially when you look at the big picture and find that you’re nowhere near where you want to go. You are looking for patterns, but they seem so scattered. You want to focus on your present, but you start to get anxious as you don’t see the meaning of doing what you’re doing right now.

While overwhelm can happen anytime, anywhere, I am intrigued by my “big picture” overwhelm. It’s not because I have too much on my plate or I’m dealing with an emergency or life crisis. This specific type of overwhelm takes place when I look ahead, years into the future, and visualize what I’ll be like. Sometimes this big picture looks like it’s thousands of miles away and I have to travel on foot. Sometimes it looks like there is a swamp between my destination and where I am right now, and I don’t have any means to cross it.

Then the feelings kick in like a bunch of chemicals interacting with each other, generating even stronger feelings. They suck you in and carry you away like a tornado. Then you find yourself landed in the middle of nowhere, waiting for a second round of emotional whirlwind. As an artist who is creative and…
